The Venue: Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

Peter and I decided we would get married in South Florida even before we were engaged. We chose this because we wanted to be sure my parents would be comfortable. Now that we decided on a geographic location we needed to pick a venue. A few years ago I decided if I ever was to get married in Florida I was going to get married at this beautiful nature preserve where peacocks roamed freely around the grounds. Peter and I visited the location in August and we liked it, but we also visited the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach FL. We fell in love with that location and chose it over the first location. So there will be no peacocks on our wedding day, but there will be a beautiful lake and gorgeous scenery.

I hope you enjoyed this pictures and will be able to join us at the museum for our special day.

Wedding Dress and Sari Shopping

Nani wants to wear both a wedding dress and a wedding sari for the wedding. So there has been a lot of shopping happening. First she went shopping with her future sister-in-law Liana, and then she went shopping with her best friend Abbey and then went sari shopping with both Abbey and Peter. The following are pictures from those shopping trips. None of these pictures are what she plans to wear.

Shopping with Liana took place at David's Bridal in Brooklyn. We tried on a lot of ballroom dresses:

Then Abbey flew in from Chicago and we went dress shopping at a few different stores in Manhattan. Here are a few of the dresses we looked at there:

During this same weekend trip, Abbey, Peter and Nani all went to Jackson Heights in Queens NY for Indian food and Indian shopping. We went to sari shops and jewelry shops. Peter found out his ring size and Nani tried on a wedding sari:

The wedding dress and sari are all set now, but we wanted you to see some of the adventures we had shopping for wedding apparel.

Engagement Story

Peter proposed to Vedana (Nani) on July 11, 2015 in Niagara Falls NY. Niagara Falls holds a special place in both our hearts. Nani grew up 20 miles from Niagara Falls and spent a lot of time there over the years while Peter has loved it since he first visited the Falls with his family. Peter and Nani went to the Falls so Peter could see the lights on the Falls for the first time. Peter had brought his grandmother's wedding ring with him to Buffalo after getting the ring from his family. The ring was a diamond solitaire.

Peter and Nani went to Goat Island and Peter got down on his knee and proposed. He slid the ring on Nani's ring finger, but we found the ring was too small for it. Nani wears the ring on a chain since the proposal and we bought another ring for her to wear that fits her ring finger. That ring is a sapphire with white gold.

We celebrated our engagement with Peter's brother William as soon as we returned back to his home in East Amherst NY that he shares with his wife Klansee. It was a night filled with love and memories.
